"When I look back at the lives weve touched and that have touched us, there is no doubt in my mind that God is orchestrating everything, reflects Smith." "Our clientele ranges from all ages and are among the elderly, homebound, victims of unfortunate accidents or sudden health complications. Although the world may view their positions as tragic, they are so far beyond our perspective of spirituality that they sometimes leave us in the dust. Ive come to learn that the more life has made you dependent on Christ, the stronger you become." The obvious services Caring Companions provides are housekeeping, meal planning and prep, laundry, transportation for appointments and errands, and assistance with activities of daily living. These are all very needed services, but where God really comes in is the emotional support, love and encouragement that these companions give, says Smith. Smith and her associates personally go out to the home and perform the assessments. Smith sees this as a vital part of their ministry. "In doing so, you not only see the individuals needs and pain, but you get to know where they came from, what their lives were like, you hear their dreams and lifes passions. You walk away with part of that person in your heart and soul. Our clients have so much wisdom and blessings to offer, if only people would take the time to listen." Smith admits this past year has not been an easy road, but believes following Christ will never be an easy road. "You need employees who have the same mission, love of helping others, and most importantly a heart for God." This past year, she says, has included many struggles for her and this ministry, but what continues to drive Smith is the comfort God has given her through her own past pain and struggles. She desires that her life be used by the Lord to comfort others. "My past suffering was what led me to care for others. The last thing Satan wants to see is for us to use our hurt and pain to help others. In Caring Companions we encounter people often at their lowest point, and we ask God to comfort them through our ministry. "I feel very blessed that God has allowed this company to bring love to those that suddenly turned around, and life had dealt them a bad hand.
